How much do Professional balloon garlands cost?

Custom balloon designs made by professional balloon artists can vary vastly in price, the total cost can be anything from $50 to $1000 plus – the price depends on many factors including, Size of order, sort of balloon used, prop hire – balloon companies will have a range of props to hire including moon gates, sailboards, marquee numbers, flower walls, backdrops, also add-ons like flowers, greenery, a string of pearls etc, location of the event, set up fees, delivery charges, additional fee, a strike fee which is a fee to come back to the venue the following day to take down the display and collect any props etc.

Most businesses will charge per linear ft usually around $20, making a 10ft garland $250.

They tend to be more luxurious & complex in design and for someone with no training to try to replicate them, would be very difficult. Many balloon artists will have a detailed price list and options for you to choose from – different styles, arch options, colour scheme, grab & go garlands and extra add-ons like a deco balloon, helium balloons, balloon walls, mylar balloons, balloon letters, balloon bouquets etc so you can have all your balloon decorations taken care of by the same company saving you the hassle & stress on the day.

So what are Balloon Garland also known as Balloon Arches?

In a nutshell, classic balloon arches are lots of air-filled latex balloons in different sizes grouped together to create a beautiful display.

They can be made in lots of sizes to suit your needs. The most popular balloon garland lengths are 4FT, 8FT, 10/12FT they are a great way to add the wow factor to your event space and can be hung on walls, around doors and fireplaces, dance floors, hung on to metal frame, welcome signs, you name it they can be made to fit.

They are a fun way to create a photo opportunity at your special events, baby showers, birthday parties, corporate events, grand openings, and outdoor events there is no limit to the possibilities of the design.

Why do they cost so much its only balloons?

Well, it’s so much more than that, It’s creativity, its time, it’s planning, it’s the messages back and forth to the customer, it’s the fuel to drop the deluxe garland off or to set it up at the location of your event, it’s the cost of materials – did you know that good quality balloons are expensive and mostly come in packs of 100 so buying in lots of colors for one garland can start to ramp up the cost, especially when the organic balloon arches are made with custom colors which are two balloons double stuffed to create a unique color. It’s the time taken to take great photos for you and to package up your order to keep it in pristine condition. So much goes into each design.

Professional balloon people will have invested in training, and programs to bring you beautiful creative designs, also social media management and creation of a photo gallery to attract new customers they will have to work out linear feet and the type of balloons needed, number of balloons, work out any additional cost and create a written price quote.

Having been in the industry for over seven years I understand what blood, sweat & tears go into each order so the artist can have a sense of pride and customer job approval.

How much do DIY Balloon garland kits cost?

The best alternative to paying for professional balloon installations is to make one yourself using a DIY balloon garland kit these kits are available to purchase for around $8.99 – $50.

Amazon balloon garland kits have got a bit of a bad reputation mainly because the main photo they use is sometimes not a true reflection of the actual designs you can create with the kit, also the color scheme can be different from your expectation going off the images.

Methods for making a balloon garland

There are a few different methods to make a garland, below we have listed the options.

example of style of balloon garland.

TAPE METHOD

Within each kit, there is a strip of hard plastic tape that has holes throughout its length, To make the garland you would need to blow up the balloons in the kit using a handheld balloon pump or an electric balloon pump, either one of these is a must when making a balloon garland and the ones we recommend are available to purchase here

Once you have blown up the balloons and tied each one, You would start pulling the end of the balloon through one of the holes on the tape and continue until you have the garland at the size and look you’re after.

Pro’s

  1. Tape is in the kit so no need to purchase anything else.
  2. some people find this method easy

 Con’s

  1. looks pretty basic, won’t give you a professional look
  2. balloons easily pop out of the holes not good for traveling

ORGANIC METHOD

This method involves using different sizes of balloons and blowing them up using either a handheld or electric balloon pump available Here and creating clusters of balloons.

The most common balloon clusters are pairs (two balloons tied together) or quads (4 balloons tied together) you can find our guide here on how to do this. You would then tie the clusters together, the most popular way to do this is to use a fishing line but the way I recommend you do it is so much easier than that.

Pro’s

  1. More professional fuller looking garland can be made big and you can use giant latex balloons within the design not just standard sizes can add specialty balloons and different types of balloons ie Foil balloons, and happy birthday letter balloons.
  2. Can be made in sections prior to the event, easy to transport and put together at the venue.

Con’s

  1. Time to learn how to make the garland
